They don’t build warehouses like this Anymore! DCH Contractors was called back to the Old City Neighborhood in 2018 to fit out the interior of the first floor into a design studio. As the project progressed; the owner of the building started to think long term. They expanded the project to restore the historic facade. All new custom window and trim profiles on the second and third floor were matched to the original historic details.
Utilizing a low pressure blast system, we cleaned and re-pointed all the masonry elements, removing a century’s worth of wear. The upper cornice and the first floor cast iron repairs completed the accurate facade restoration.
The interior of the design studio offers a mix of contemporary design with classic elements as contrast. The reuse of the original iron railing in the waiting area and the original cast iron columns add interest to the wide open space. The custom material library provides organized storage for the large collection of design samples and project story boards.
